Often described as the copper guru, Donald McCarty is a trainer, speaker, writer and consultant advising the industry on extending the life of copper to deliver increased bandwidth and consistent service through triple play. Donald teaches procedures to standardize the process of locating and maintaining paired copper and his courses are “equipment centric”, focused on increasing technician knowledge of equipment provided by their employer and applying that knowledge to improved fault location and maintenance skills. Donald is a highly respected columnist of Outside Plant Magazine and he has been a speaker at OSP Expo since inception. He also speaks at many independent conferences throughout the World. Donald authored the industry’s premiere cable fault locating training manual, The Fine Art of Fault Locating, and together with Fluke Networks, he developed the TechExpert software program to guide technicians through fault locating and maintenance processes.
This course, broken into five sections, carefully defines excellent cable fault location practices, bonding, grounding, and noise detection skills. This is taught from a “tools” perspective, focusing on the equipment used by your technicians and takes them from basic skills to advanced tool skills.
Depending on the equipment used at your facility, we will cover any or all of the portable multi-functional test equipment, such as the Dynatel 965DSP, Megger HST 1000, the 990 DSL Copper Pro, JDSU, EXFO and other xDSL DSL Handheld DSL Test Sets.
